The fact that Andrejs Elksninsh, the mayor of Daugavpils, Latvia’s second-largest city, called Crimea the Russian territory caused a scandal, APA reports citing UNIAN.

Andrey Elksninish, a representative of the "Saskana" social-democratic party, said that Crimea is the territory of Russia. He also blamed Ukraine and the United States for the Bucha massacre.

He accused Ukrainian diplomats of both the war and the Bucha massacre.

The mayor also stressed that he did not hope for the victory of Ukraine.

"Russia, Ukraine, and the United States are responsible for everything that happened. Everyone is responsible for this situation, first of all, diplomats - because when diplomats fail, weapons start talking. It has always been like that. So in this situation, we must talk about losing diplomacy," Andrey Elksninish stated.
