Chairman of NTRC of Azerbaijan: “Concerns related to national interests appear during some foreign TV channels’ rebroadcast”

A meeting has been held with heads of large cable network operators of Azerbaijan in the National Television and Radio Council, the Council told APA.

According to the Council, current situation in cable network broadcast of Azerbaijan, problems of this field and their solutions have been mutually discussed in the meeting.

Chairman of NTRC of Azerbaijan Nushiravan Maharramov informed about some concerns related to national interests in rebroadcast of some foreign TV channels in cable networks, some service shortages of network operators, abundance of rebroadcast channels, copyrights of their broadcast, and problems in field of registration of additional audiovisual services, presented by operators.

Representatives of cable televisions suggested combining attempts and establishing a new public body, protecting general interests of cable broadcasters from the point of mutually-profitable relations view between operators in order to remove such problems. Comprehensive discussion on establishment of such body with participation of representatives of all cable and IP network operators in near future is recommended.
