"Liberation of Azerbaijani territories created new opportunities for search of missing persons. Mass graves were detected in Edilli and Farrukh. Secondly, the conflict has ended and Azerbaijan conducts negotiations with Armenia regarding missing persons too. The issue on the missing persons has been included in the agenda of negotiations in Brussels," said head of Sector in President Administration Habib Mikayil at a conference today on "Identification of missing persons - Humanitarian approach" dedicated to the August 30 - International Day of the Disappeared with an organization of the State Commission and International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) regarding prisoners of war, hostages and missing persons, APA reports.

Habib Mikayil has noted that Armenia does not provide information on the location of mass graves because it is afraid that cases of mass killing of missing persons could be characterized as a war crime: "Mine problem also makes investigation of these issues difficult. Steps will be taken with ICRC from next month. Use of forensic examination in the field is also necessary. ICRC's joint mechanism with Azerbaijan and Armenia regarding missing persons may be effective in this field."
