"Azerbaijan has not recorded any case of monkeypox infection. However, we cannot exclude such cases," said Tayyar Eyvazov, an expert of the Ministry of Health, APA reports.

According to him, the main issue now is to detect the first monkeypox case in time:

He noted that if a person feels ill if there are changes in the facial skin or wounds, he/she should isolate himself and consult a doctor:

"Currently, the wide spread of monkeypox suggests that this virus has mutated or is also transmitted by airborne droplets. However, infection is mainly observed through contact. I mean long-term contact."
