“International organizations, some foreign countries allocated sufficient amount of fund to prevent Lake Urmia from drying, but Iranian government spent it for itself and did not take any steps regarding Urmia Lake,” said an activist for human rights and ethnic issues and co-founder of the Ark Human Rights Protection Committee Jala Tabrizli at the event "Lake Urmu’s wail," APA reports.

She stressed that the main reason for the drying up of the lake is the cutting off of the water supply and the unplanned expansion of agriculture.
