"Work is underway in the direction of establishment of geo-parks in the country," said Deputy Head of Biodiversity Protection Service Arzu Samadova in the "Expert hour", APA reports.
According to her, works in the direction of establishment of geo-parks in the territory of mud volcanoes in Azerbaijan have been started: "Regulation of the geo-park has been confirmed. Geo-park is also one of the protected categories of UNESCO. Then, works will also be done regarding including them in the natural heritage list of UNESCO. A nomination document is developed in this regard. Geo-parks will be commissioned in the coming years."
