Some forces are trying to create an image of a conflict between Islam and Christianity based on the process taking place in the territory of Azerbaijan, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Azerbaijan to Georgia Faig Guliyev said at the international conference on "The role of the state in Interreligious dialogue" held in Tbilisi, APA's correspondent reports.
The ambassador stressed that Azerbaijan and Georgia support each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty on a permanent basis.
Faig Guliyev pointed out that 65 out of 66 mosques were destroyed in Azerbaijan during the occupation. He asserted that despite all this, Azerbaijan shows its attitude to the issue by restoring not only the temples belonging to the Islamic religion but also the monuments belonging to other religions and sects in the liberated territories.
The ambassador noted that Azerbaijan and Georgia are the guarantors of peace and security in the South Caucasus.
