The United States intends to further develop cooperative relations with Azerbaijan, said Laura Lochman, US Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Bureau of Energy Resources, speaking at the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council in Baku, APA reports.
She noted that President Joseph Biden supports the issue of gas export from the Caspian Sea to Europe: "The US has supported and will continue to support the Southern Gas Corridor project to ensure the energy security of its European partners."
"The Southern Gas Corridor is a very important project for Europe, and Azerbaijan has a leading role in ensuring the energy security of the continent. However, the Southern Gas Corridor plays an important role in strengthening not only energy, but also political security of Europe. This project creates opportunities for the cooperation of many countries, the use of which provides economic growth. The United States will continue to support the transportation of natural gas produced in the Caspian Sea to Europe and help Azerbaijan," said Laura Lochman.
Mrs. Laura Lochman also noted that the United States, taking into account environmental problems in the world, can invest in the production and export of green energy in Azerbaijan.
