“We are not aware of what expects us regarding the COVID-19 in autumn,” WHO representative in Azerbaijan Hande Harmanci told journalists.

She recommended that people over the age of 50, who are at risk and not vaccinated, join the coronavirus vaccination process.

“Today, as in the rest of the world, there is a decrease in coronavirus infections in Azerbaijan. However, it should be closely followed. Because the decreased cases in the previous summer, had increased in autumn. Therefore we should be careful. WHO keeps in control of new types, and strains of the virus. Let's take into account that today new variants of Omicron strain are emerging today. All of these are also under our observation. We should know that the pandemic still continues. We are not aware of what expects us in the autumn. Therefore we should continue to follow preventive measures obtained during two years,” Harmanci stressed.
