WHO thanks Azerbaijani leadership

President Ilham Aliyev has received Hans Henri Klugen, the World Health Organization's (WHO) Regional Director for Europe, who is on an official visit to Azerbaijan. Later, Hans Henri Kluge met with a delegation led by Health Minister Teymur Musayev. The heads of other healthcare institutions in our country also attended the meeting.

The ministry told APA that Health Minister Teymur Musayev stressed that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to cooperation with the World Health Organization. According to him, Azerbaijan has been cooperating closely with a prestigious healthcare organization since 1992, and this cooperation is developing in a growing line every year.

The Minister noted the work done in the country to combat COVID-19, as well as the assistance and initiatives provided by Azerbaijan in the international arena: "Azerbaijan's work and achievements in combating the pandemic were also highly assessed by WHO Director-General Tedros Gebreyesus."

In his speech, Teymur Musayev also noted the active work of the country office of the World Health Organization on improving and modernizing national health.

Hans Henry Kluge expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and stressed the importance of prioritizing primary health care to achieve global health goals. Touching upon the issue of coronavirus infection, WHO Regional Director for Europe thanked the Azerbaijani leadership for a humane step, such as sending COVID-19 vaccines to other countries.
