A protest action will be held in Berlin, Germany on May 20 in this regard.
For information, on May 12, 2006, a caricature depicting Turks as insects was published in the relevant issue of Iran newspaper, the official organ of the Iranian state. Protesting against this, Azerbaijanis started actions in the cities and towns where they live.
In order to prevent the growth of the protests, the Iranian law enforcement agencies had started taking measures to stop the peaceful protests using force.
During the protests, more than 30 of Azerbaijanis were killed by the Iranian regime's security forces, hundreds of people were injured, and many protestors were arrested.
