CICA: Developing mountain tourism is also very important for Azerbaijan

The topic of tourism occupies a separate role in CICA in organizing reciprocal activity, the secretary general of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) Kairat Sarybay said in response to APA’s question “What steps are being taken to restore the tourism sector to its previous level after the pandemic?".

He said that he had the opportunity to hold a dialogue with the General Director of the World Tourism Organization: “During the discussion we came to the decision that endless tourism potential. Tourism is one of the important fields. Thus, it is about establishing relations among citizens. Of course, it will be difficult to provide tourist flows without having economic infrastructure. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the activity of the tourism sector has been restored by 80 percent.”

According to the Secretary-General, many of the countries within the CICA receive a large number of tourists: “Kyrgyz leadership is interested in the development of mountain tourism. I have to emphasize that this is very important for Azerbaijan. Because it locates in one part of the Caucasian mountains.”
