“Tourist flow to our countries decreased by 72 percent in comparison to 2019. This has led to USD 1,3 trillion on a global scale. There was a 60 percent decrease in tourism in 2020,” Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Hissein Brahim Taha said at the 11th session of the Ministers of Tourism of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), APA reports.

According to him, tourism has great potential in support of small and medium enterprises: “It creates new job opportunities for people. 80 percent of this sector falls on the share of small and medium enterprises. We should strengthen competitiveness in the direction of halal tourism. For this, I urge you to invest in halal tourism. Sharing leading experiences can allow the increase in tourism relations in OIC countries. I am sure that the relevant recommendations will be considered and will be adopted in the final.”
