Armed incident occurred on Azerbaijani-Iranian border

Violation of state border by two unknown persons in the direction of the Republic of Azerbaijan from the Islamic Republic of Iran was detected by border detachment in the service territory of border detachment of the Horadiz Border Group of Border Troops of the State Border Service (SBS) nearby Gazakhlar village of Fuzuli district at about 10:00 p.m on April 16, SBS told APA.

The frontier outpost was alerted by “To arms” command, the service area was closed, border servicemen of the Islamic Republic of Iran were informed of the incident.

The “Stop” command was given and the warning fire was opened into the air by the border patrol unit. But the border violators didn’t obey the command and when they attempted to run away from the area, they were followed and detained by border guards. Detained persons have been determined to be Iranian citizens – Feyzi Yaser Nariman (1991) and Huseynpur Sejjad Hasan (1993). A border guard used a weapon in accordance with the provision of the Law of the Republic of Azerbaijan "On the State Border of the Republic of Azerbaijan", one of the border violators - Feyzi Yaser Nariman was wounded from his arm slightly and he was provided with initial medical assistance and taken to Fuzuli District Diagnostics Center.
