"My father Azad Rahimov died yesterday at 22:45 by Baku time in the United States, where he was treated for lung cancer. Although he suffered from a serious illness for a long time, he thought about his homeland and state until the last moment of his life. My father was very happy to witness the liberation of Karabakh by the Azerbaijani Army under the leadership of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief," Arif Rahimov, son of Azad Rahimov, Minister of Youth and Sports, who died yesterday, wrote this on his Facebook account, APA reports.

Arif Rahimov further noted that Azad Rahimov was a good son, a good father, a good friend, and a citizen who loved his country:

"My father always worked for his homeland, living the traditions of statehood inherited from his grandfather Sadig Rahimov.

Azad Rahimov was not only a minister but also a public figure.

We know that many people want to farewell him, but please do not come to the funeral because of the pandemic.

We thank Mr. President, Mrs. Vice President and the public for supporting us in this difficult time for our family.

Rest in peace!".
