Last year, 1 ton and 231 kilograms of narcotic substances were withdrawn from illegal trafficking in Azerbaijan, said Minister of Internal Affairs, Colonel General Vilayat Eyvazov at the board meeting held today, APA reports.
The minister noted that in the reporting period, the fight against organized crimes was implemented in purposeful manner, and 818 criminal groups were neutralized last year. About 127 tons of illegally cultivated cannabis and poppy bushes were detected and eliminated.
Last year, the investigation of 81 percent of 31,539 criminal cases detected by law enforcement agencies of the country was conducted by inspectors of internal affairs agencies, and 92.7 percent of the material damage worth over AZN 52 million caused to citizens was got repaid just during investigation.
