Azerbaijani MES: “Reason of fire at EuroHome building materials market being investigated”

112 Call Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations received information of fire, broke out in EuroHome building materials market, located in Binagadi district of Baku city, at 10:51 p.m on May 11, 2020, press service of the MES told APA.

Relevant forces of State Fire Protection Service of the Ministry arrived at site 6 minutes after the call – 10:57 p.m. the fire was localized at 00:30 a.m. and fully extinguished at 01:30 a.m. 3300 sq/meters of the total area of about 22 500 sq/m burned, rest of the market was protected from fire.

Although complex nature of the fire and existence of many goods and materials, which are flammable and included in group of high fire risk in the territory, thanks to the operative intervention of firefighting forces to the occurrence and individual courage of firefighters, spread of the fire to larger territories and its greater damages were prevented and it was localized and extinguished within a short period of time.

Besides fire extinguishing, MES forces also removed goods and materials from the fire zone in order to prevent them.

Note that in total 406 live forces and 54 equipments of the State Fire Protection Service of the Ministry, Special Risky Rescue Service, Civilian Defense Troops, and Baku Regional Center have been involved in the site.
