The complex, systematic and consistent measures are being implemented in the area of provision of transfarency in all branches of state governance in the framework of the comprehensive reforms successfully implemented in our country, the Press services of the General Prosecutor’s Office and the State Customs Committee told APA.
It is noted in the joint information provided to APA that in order to fulfill the tasks put forward in this area, the series of measures are being continued by the Main Department for Fight against Corruption under the General prosecutor in the area of unmasking and bringing to responsibility in front of law of the senior officials who committed corruption crimes by violating the rules of professional behavior of state employee pursuing their unlawful personal interests and not complying with high ethic norms.
Thus, the appeal received by the State Customs Committee and telling about unlawful actions of Jeyhun Babayev working in the position of head of Transit division of the Main Customs Department in Energy resources and Sea transport under the State Customs Committee of the Azerbaijan Republic has been investigated at the Main Department for Fight against Corruption under the General prosecutor.
As a result of the operational and search measures jointly implemented by the Main Department for Fight against Corruption under the General prosecutor and the State Customs Committee, Jeyhun Babayev was caught on June 23, 2020 in the act of committing a crime i.e. taking money in the total amount of $ 750 (AZN 1,275) demanded by him as a bribe in exchange for acceleration of transit customs registration of the goods owned by “Gate Est Group” LLC and “Interlogistics” LLC engaged in transportation activity from the authorized representative of these companies.
The criminal case has been opened into this incident, and as the grounds have been determined for suspecting Jeyhun Babayev of committing the aforementioned criminal action, he has been brought to responsibility in the capacity of the accused person based on the clause 311.1 (taking of bribe) of the Criminal Code, and the remand in custody for the period of 4 months has been chosen in regard to him by the decision of Binagadi district court.
Currently, the necessary investigative and operational measures are being continued in the area of full and comprehensive check of the mentioned unlawful action cases under this criminal case, and identifying and bringing to responsibility of the circle of the guilty persons.
The General Prosecutor’s Office of the Azerbaijan Republic recommends the citizens encountering the unlawful action cases of this kind to provide relevant information to Hotline contact center #161 of the Main Department for Fight against Corruption under the General prosecutor and to the Call center #961 of the General Prosecutor’s Office.
