Two people have died after a plane crash landed in Russia, APA reports citing the Mirror.

22 of passengers were injured after the An-24 passenger jet crash landed at Nizhneangarsk airport.

The Angara Airlines flight had been travelling to Ulan Ude when it was forced to make an emergency landing when one of the engines failed.

According to reports, the plane kidded 100m along the runway, crashed into a sewage plant and then went up in flames.

There were 46 people, including four crew, on board the plane and passengers were pulled to safety seconds before fire exploded through the cabin gutting the plane.

The plane's captain and a mechanic died while 19 passengers have been taken to hospital.

Twenty-two people were injured when an An-24 plane made an emergency landing in Russia's Buryatia region, local medical services told TASS on Thursday, APA reports citing TASS.

"Twenty-two people were injured, 15 of them received medical assistance on the site, while seven other people were hospitalized," medical services said.

Two crewmembers died during the emergency landing. There were 46 people on board, including four crewmembers.

One of the plane's engines stopped working in air. The Russian Emergencies Ministry told TASS that the plane steered from the runway when landing in Nizhneangarsk. "When braking, the plane turned around and crashed into a sewage treatment plant. The plane caught fire in the crash," the ministry said.The fire has been localized. Fourty-four people were rescued.
