On June 27, a police officer who was injured in a grenade attack by a wanted man. at Baku Car Market has died, APA reports.

4 police officers were injured in the blast. One of them, police captain Elchin Safarov, died today despite all medical interventions.

A joint statement issued by the Prosecutor General's Office and the Interior Ministry said that Museyib Alasgarov, born in 1982 and previously convicted of drug-related smuggling under the Criminal Code, had been detained in the capital on July 27 on the basis of operational information on drug trafficking. He tried to escape by disobeying police officers while his car was stopped in Yasamal district. This time the grenade exploded and as a result, M. Alasgarov died.

The passenger in the car, Elman Gurbanov, born in 1993, who was previously convicted of robbery, was detained while fleeing. During a personal search, a large amount of drugs was found and confiscated from him.

Four police officers were injured in the blast.

During the inspection of the car, additional weapons were found.

The Yasamal District Prosecutor's Office has launched a criminal case under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code, and the investigation is underway.
