SSS: Smuggling of large quantities of tobacco products in the Caspian Sea prevented

Measures on ensuring reliable security of sea borders, strengthening regime rules in the Caspian sea, fight against smuggling and other illegal activities have been continued, State Border Service told APA.

On September 21, as a result of joint measures conducted by the State Border Service and State Security Service illegal smuggling of large quantities of tobacco products in the Caspian Sea has been prevented.

According to preliminary information on the unauthorized departure of 2 unknown swimming vessels in the direction of the Salyan region at night in violation of the rules of the regime, Coast Guard vessel of the State Border Service guarding the state border in the southern direction of the Caspian Sea was sent to the mentioned territory. The movement of swimming vessels was taken under control through technical observation equipment and radars, one Yamaha-8 engine wooden boat without a port number, which had 2 personnel, and an unmanned rubber boat in its reserve were detained in the 1,6 miles distance from the shore.

Personnel of the swimming vessels presented them as residents of Goltug village of Neftchala district Guliyev Suleyman Gahraman (1978) and Abushov Sahib Garakishi (1987)ş

Different kinds of tobacco products of 48 680 boxes in total (“Manchester”, “Magna”, “Senator”, “Kent”, “Platinum”, “King”, “Want”) were detected while reviewing the vessels.
