Units of the Azerbaijani Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) have taken fire safety responsibility over Kemerkoy and Yenikoy thermal power plants in Turkey, MES told APA.
It was noted that the blaze reached the perimeter of the Kemerkoy Thermal Power Plant in Mugla’s Milas district late on Wednesday. In this regard, the fire and rescue forces of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Turkey together with local forces managed to extinguish the fire at the thermal power plant this morning. Thus, prevented the fire from spreading to the nearby Yenikoy Thermal Power Plant.
Taking into account the strategic role of both thermal power plants in the supply of electricity to the region, Kamarkoy and Yenikoy stations, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Emergency Situations took fire safety responsibility over these stations.
Deputy Minister of Emergency Situations Lieutenant General Etibar Mirzayev met with local officials to discuss the steps to be taken to ensure reliable fire protection of the stations.
