108 people killed, 493 injured in emergency situations in Azerbaijan since early 2017

Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Emergency Situations has publicized the statistics of the emergency situations that have occurred in the country in the nine months of 2017.

During the reporting period, 59 explosions hit the country, which is a 40 percent increase or 17 accidents more compared to the same period of 2016, the ministry told APA.

The explosions killed 13 people and injured 71 others.

The ministry has sent firefighting teams 11,433 times to tackle the fires upon the requests made during the reporting period. The fires killed 39 people and left 146 injured. The fatalities are 34 percent or 10 people more compared to the past period and the injured are 38 percent or 45 people fewer in comparison.

In the nine months of 2017, a total of 11,611 natural and anthropogenic accidents occurred in the country – 9 percent of 992 accidents more compared to the same period of last year. 56 people were killed and 257 others injured in the natural and anthropogenic accidents.

The ministry’s rescuers saved the lives of 95 people and evacuated 925 others.
