Three armed gang members suspected of shooting a resident of Azerbaijan’s Shirvan city, Teyyub Taghiyev, on Feb. 24 have been detained, the Interior Ministry’s press service told APA.
The detainees are Shirvan residents Azer Mammadov, Nadir Nehmadzade and Sabirabad resident Habil Farzaliyev.
Five cartridges of Makarov pistol were found on Habil Farzaliyev during the search. Investigation revealed, however, that the arms and ammunition found on Farzaliyev actually belonged to another gang member Mammadov and that the latter is the one who had opened fire at the victim.
Further investigations made it clear that Mammadov are responsible for more crimes; he admitted to having shot a Shirvan city resident (Rasul Aliyev) twice in the leg because of a dispute on 21 April 2015.
Criminal proceedings have been initiated with regard to the related articles of the Criminal Code. Investigation is continuing.
