Azerbaijan Anti-Corruption Department names most corrupt spheres

The Anti-Corruption Department under Azerbaijan’s Prosecutor General has named most corrupt spheres in 2017.

Kamran Aliyev, Deputy Prosecutor General, Head of the Anti-Corruption Department, said that last year most of the criminal cases investigated and submitted to courts had to do with banking and non-banking credit organizations, APA reported.

He noted that 43 criminal cases related to this area were investigated and submitted to courts.

“The private sector was the second in this respect. A total of 35 officials working in this sector were brought to justice. In addition, the criminal cases were investigated and submitted to courts with regard to 10 persons working in the sphere of trade, 10 persons working in the construction sphere, and 5 officials of local executive authorities,” added Aliyev.
