Azerbaijani accused of killing Ukrainian kickboxer standing trial

An Azerbaijani man accused of killing Ukrainian kickboxer will be brought to trial in the near future.

On 16 May 2017, the Odessa city prosecutor’s office sent an indictment to the Malinovsky district court against Babak Hasanov, a native of Azerbaijan who is recognized the main suspect in the murder of the athlete, APA reported citing mmaboxing.ru.

On 8 April 2015, Ukrainian kickboxer Sergei Lascenko was shot dead in a hospital in Odessa. Earlier, the kickboxer together with his friends came into conflict a with a group people in the city center. A shooting occurred as a result of the incident. Lashchenko and his companions were forced to go to hospital, but the incident did not end there. The assailants followed Lascenko and his friends to the hospital, where they simply shot the athlete. Lascenko died while he was undergoing a surgery.
