Azerbaijani police seize large quantity of drugs

About 5.3 kg of drugs and a large quantity of cannabis plants were seized and nearly 17 tons of opium poppy and cannabis plans were destroyed during an anti-drug operation conducted in Azerbaijan on June 22, the Interior Ministry told APA on June 23.

In a course of another police raid, the previously convicted Baku resident, Tofig Gulammirzayev, was detained on charges of drug trafficking, and 125 grams of marijuana were seized from him. Moreover, over 4 kg of marijuana were confiscated from the detainee’s house.

One more suspected drug dealer was detained in the city of Sumgayit. About 500 grams of marijuana were seized the detainee Bahadur Mikayilov.

Based on the information received, the police raided the house of a previously convicted resident of Siyazan district. During the raid, 87 cannabis plants and 400 grams of marijuana were found in the court yard of Siyazan district resident Badal Nazarov and seized.

In addition, a large quantity of drugs were found and seized during police operations in the districts of Shaki, Goranboy, Tovuz and Yardimli.
