Baku – APA. In a special operation, conducted by Azerbaijan’s State Security Service (SSS), a terrorist has been killed in the country’s Khachmaz district as he committed an armed resistance, the service said in a statement on Nov. 25.
An Azerbaijani citizen, Ramiq Rahimov, 42, was suspected of acting as “emir of jamaat”, composed of his supporters, in the rank of a terrorist organization involved in armed conflicts motivated by religious hatred outside the country, recruiting Azerbaijani citizens to such armed conflicts and organizing secret gatherings of members of a criminal organizations. Illegally acquiring firearms and explosive devices, Rahimov had planned to implement the terrorist objectives and abduction plans of this organization, said the statement.
Based on the information received, the State Security Service carried out an operation in Duztahiroba village of Khachmaz district on 25 November 2016 to disarm and prosecute Rahimov.
Rahimov had committed an armed resistance, disobeying legal demands for surrender. As a result of response measures by special-task forces, the terrorist was killed.
