The Baku City Prosecutor's Office has investigated the appeals received from citizens on the illegal sale of prohibited medicines in some pharmacies in the capital.

The investigation revealed that the seller of a pharmacy, called Bizim Aptek operating in Baku’s Yasamal district without a license (special permission), was illegally selling Tramadol 200 mg, highly potent medicines, without a prescription.

Baku Prosecutor’s Office initiated a criminal case on the incident under Articles 240.2.2 (repeated illegal circulation of strong or poisonous substances with a view of selling) and 192.1 (illegal business) of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan. The investigation into the case will be conducted by the Investigation Office of the Baku City Main Police Department.

Through a comprehensive, thorough and objective investigation of information disseminated on mass media and social networks about the pharmacies engaged in the illegal sale of strong substances in the city, measures are being taken to identify and prosecute the persons who are engaged in the illicit trafficking of these substances.
