Azerbaijan’s Sate Security Service seized 619,500 counterfeit excise stamps intended for illegal vodka production in the country, smuggled through the customs control of Azerbaijan-Georgia border, the State Service’s public relations department told APA.
The investigation revealed that the stamps were found at certain vodka production spots, where the drink was being made with mix of low-quality alcohol and water.
In addition, many storage tanks for keeping low quality alcohol were found.
A criminal case on the matter has been initiated, the State Security Service and the Ministry of Taxes are investigating the case.
The State Security Service’s public relations department said all similar further attempts aimed against health of the country’s citizens will be prevented.
