The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Azerbaijan disseminated information in connection with a severe fire in the Agsu district.
The Emergency Situations Ministry told APA that on July 12, at about 2:30 pm, the Center for Crisis Management received a report on a fire on a sloping wheat field and on a site with a shrub near the village of Bijo of the Agsu district (19 km from the Agsu fire department).
On the scene of the incident were drawn manpower and equipment of the Service of the State Security Ministry of the Emergencies Ministry.
When extinguishing the fire, certain difficulties arose due to its proximity to high-voltage power lines. Fire brigades from surrounding areas were brought in, and amphibious aircraft "Be-200 ChS" and helicopter "Mi-17" of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, as well as manpower and equipment of the civil defense troops were brought to the fire.
On fire-fighting, 15 units of equipment and 80 people of manpower were involved. As a result of the measures taken, the spread of the fire to high-voltage power lines was prevented in the shortest possible time.
The fire covered a beveled field of about 400 hectares, and bushes and grass also burned.
The fire was extinguished at 21.03.
Nearby fields and other objects could be protected from fire.
The corresponding forces of the Agsu EP and the local population were involved in extinguishing the fire.
Firefighting and the appropriate forces of civil defense troops are on duty in the territory.
