Two persons accused of theft in apartment of building constructed for journalists in Baku detained

Two persons accused of committing theft in an apartment of the building constructed for journalists in Baku have been detained.

As a result of the measures taken by law enforcement authorities, two Baku residents – Alakbar Alakbarov and Farhad Jafarov – accused of numerous apartment thefts in the capital were detained, law enforcement authorities told APA.

The investigation revealed that the detainees committed thefts in six apartments in Baku and Sabail district, including journalist Aghanisa Sultanova’s apartment. They stole money, laptops, computer sets, household appliances and gold jewelry from these apartments.

A criminal case has been initiated against the detainees under relevant articles of the Criminal Code of Azerbaijan. Under the court decision, a measure of restraint in the form of arrest was chosen for both persons.

At present, the involvement of detainees in other crimes is being investigated.

The Interior Ministry’s press service confirmed the information to APA.

On January 30, unknown persons burst into the apartment of journalist Aghanisa Sultanova and stole 1,000 manats and jewelry in the amount of 3,900 manats.
