Algeria appoints interim prime minister ahead of elections

Baku-APA. Algerian Minister of Energy Youcef Yousfi was appointed on Thursday interim Prime Minister in replacement of resigning Abdelmaek Sellal who was tasked to direct the campaign of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika ahead of April 17 election, APA reports quoting Xinhua.

Quoting a statement of the President Office, APS news agency reported that President Bouteflika also appointed Ahmed Ouyahia as Minister of State, Chief of Staff of the President Office, replacing Mohamed Moulay Guendil who was called up for other functions.

For his part, Abdelaziz Belkhadem was appointed Minister of State, Special Adviser for President, added the source.

Ouyahia and Belkhadem are both former prime ministers and former leaders of ruling parties, namely the National Democratic Rally (RND) and the National Liberation Front (FLN), respectively.
