The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) is holding a meeting on the situation in Afghanistan. Earlier this month, France, Britain, and Germany proposed a resolution "calling for safe passage for those leaving Afghanistan" beyond the 31 August deadline, APA reports citing CNN.
Reports say the UNSC is likely to vote on the resolution.
During the hearing, member nations will be briefed on the situation in the war-torn country by a UN official. Earlier today, a source told Sputnik that the United Nations is not holding negotiations on sending a peacekeeping mission to Afghanistan.
