A group of armed terrorists attacked a patrolling party of the Frontier Corps, a paramilitary force, and killed five soldiers in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province, a statement from the military said on Friday, APA reports citing Xinhua.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan army, without giving details about the attacking time, said the attack took place in the Sangan area of Sibi district in Balochistan.

According to the statement, the terrorists' attack on the Frontier Corps patrolling party triggered a heavy exchange which resulted in the loss of five soldiers.

"During the exchange of fire, heavy losses were inflicted on to the terrorists in men and materials," said the ISPR, adding that a search operation is in progress to block the escape routes of the terrorists and apprehend the perpetrators.

The statement said such cowardly acts by inimical elements could not sabotage the hard-earned peace and prosperity in Balochistan, adding that the security forces are determined to neutralize their nefarious designs even at the cost of blood and lives.

No group has claimed the attack yet.
