The Japanese parliament has passed a bill to make vaccinations against the coronavirus free for residents, obligating the government to cover all costs, APA reports quoting Sputnik.

Under the legislation, passed unanimously by the upper chamber of the Japanese parliament on Wednesday, the government will also cover all expenses related to any possible adverse effects, and compensate pharmaceutical companies for possible lawsuits.

The revised law provides for voluntary immunisation. The Japanese government is now set to focus on a vaccine storage system and an explanatory campaign for local authorities.
