Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Sayyid Ali Khamenei received the domestically-developed COVIran Barekat coronavirus vaccine on Thursday, APA reports citing Iran Press.
The Leader had, however, set two prior conditions: Firstly, insisting not to receive the vaccine outside the schedule that had been devised for the rest of the Iranians in the first place.
Secondly, Ayatollah Khamenei had required to receive only Iranian vaccines.
For this reason, when the first phase of the vaccination of Iranians aged 80 and above started, he did not receive the foreign vaccine and waited for the Iranian one.
Iran's first domestically produced vaccine, COV-Iran Barakat, is to be used in a mass immunization program following the third successful clinical trial.
