There is currently fierce fighting in northeastern Afghanistan

Several sources close to the National Front for Resistance against the Taliban reported ongoing clashes on Friday morning [October 15] in the Andarab Valley in Balk province in northeastern Afghanistan, APA reports citing Bulgarianmilitary.

“There is currently a fierce battle between the Taliban and the National Resistance Front in Andarab. There are casualties on both sides, the exact number of casualties is unknown,” the Twitter message said.

According to sources, clashes are taking place in the districts of Puli-Hisar and Dih-Salah in the province of Baglan, the Taliban, which suffered more than 60 casualties, are withdrawing, there are losses among the fighters of the Front and the death of two of their field commanders.

The Taliban have not yet commented on the incident, but videos have been posted on social media showing columns of Taliban fighters heading for the Andarab Valley.

Meanwhile, the Taliban Ministry of Defense announced on Twitter that Ataula Omari has been appointed commander of the Mazar-e-Sharif Corps. The corps headquarters is located at the base of the former 209th Corps of the Afghan National Army “Shahin” in the suburbs of Mazar-e-Sharif, the center of Balkh province, and is responsible for security in the northern part of the country.
