Criminal case initiated against a group of persons affiliated with PKK-PYD-YPG terrorist organizations

The implementation of urgent measures is continued by the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan in order to unmask once again the occupant nature of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the international plain, the General Prosecutor’s Office told APA.

As a continuation of these implemented measures, the investigation was conducted based on the material collected in the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Azerbaijan regarding criminal actions committed against the Republic of Azerbaijan by the persons affiliated with PKK-PYD-YPG terrorist organizations who live on various territories of the Republic of Iraq, as well as a citizen of the Republic of Lebanon, a person named Vartkes and others.

It was determined by investigations that a group of persons affiliated with PKK-PYD-YPG terrorist organizations who live on various territories of Syria, Lebanon, the Republic of Iraq responding to the call of Aslan Murad Vartanyan, Bese Hozat and others and acting under leadership of Livan Karadagh, Hemaran Kervachian, Sarvat Bagopshin in March-April, 2016 and September-November, 2020, while a citizen of the Republic of Lebanon, a person named Vartkes and others in October, 2020 came into criminal connection with the persons being on the territory of the Republic of Armenia and the occupied territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and in the form of the criminal unit, illegally crossed internationally recognized state border of the Republic of Azerbaijan without prescribed documents and in the area beyond security checkpoints of the state border, i.e. from the Armenian territory and arrived in Khankendi City and other occupied residential settlements, and were used as mercenaries by Armenia’s political and military regime against the peaceful citizens and the armed forces of the Republic of Azerbaijan implementing anti-terrorist operations.

Besides that, it was found out that the members of that criminal group participated in terrorism against the citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan using military ammunition, military equipment by committing numerous crimes against civilians who do not want to take part in military operations with the intention of national hostility, by committing explosions, fires or other acts that endanger publicly dangerous consequences by opening fire with special cruelty and general danger.

Criminal cases have been launched by Prosecutor general of the Republic of Azerbaijan with relevant articles of Criminal code of the Republic of Azerbaijan and conducting the investigation has been entrusted to Investigation Department of the Prosecutor General's Office, regarding the mentioned facts

Currently, intensive investigative operational measures are being carried out on both criminal cases.
