“Criminal case against the head of the Armenian intelligence-sabotage group is underway. He entered the territory of Azerbaijan with two people, studied the strategically necessary places, and wanted to return back,” said Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan Kamran Aliyev at today’s briefing held in connection with the crimes committed against the civilian population of Azerbaijan as a result of the aggression of the Armenian Armed Forces, APA reports.
Prosecutor General noted that the leader of the group, Gurgen Alaverdyan, was accompanied by two other Armenian servicemen: “We learned that they served in the Armenian military unit in the occupied Kalbajar region of Azerbaijan. Gurgen Alaverdyan together with Armen Jamalyan and Grena Hakobyan was sent by the commander of the military unit Vazgen Vartanyan from Kalbajar region in the direction to other regions of Azerbaijan and Goranboy region. The main purpose has been to learn strategical objects of the Republic of Azerbaijan, densely populated residential areas, the territories, points, posts where the Armed Forces of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan are located and finally to commit diversion, provocation against Azerbaijani Armed Forces, Azerbaijani citizens, civilians. So, as a result of the investigation, Alaverdyan is already in prison. Arrest warrant has been issued for Vazgen Vartanyan and Armen Jamalyan and has been sent to interpol for execution. We have the name and surname of the fourth person - Grena Hakobyan, but it is not possible to search for her because we do not have other information about her identity. We are working on this field.”
