We call on Azerbaijan and Armenia to join the Ottawa Convention on the Prohibition of the Use of Anti-Personnel Mines, said UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan Gulam Ishaqzai in a webinar held with the organization of Center for International Relations Analysis, APA reports.
He noted that access to information on mines, information sharing is very important for reconciliation between Azerbaijan and Armenia: “The UN worked with Armenia within the framework of Working group for sharing information on mined territories. We try to help share information about mined areas. Sharing this information would also be a step towards building trust.”
G. Ishaqzai noted that the return of IDPs to the liberated areas is directly related to the establishment of safe living
