Azerbaijan’s border guards detained an armed man over an attempt to violate the state border in the direction of Salahli village of the country’s Samukh district on Feb. 14, the State Border Service (SBS) told APA.
The trespasser disobeyed the border guards’ order, made an armed resistance and attempted to flee the scene, according to the SBS.
As a result, the border guards opened fire on the trespasser, wounding him in his left leg. The trespasser was detained and rendered first aid.
The offender, identified as Mahammad Garayev (1966), is a resident of Samukh district’s Salahli village.
During the inspection, one 12-mm double-barrel shotgun, one bandolier, 12 full cartridges and 8 empty cartridges were seized from the scene.
Investigation is underway into the incident.
