178 million tons of oil has been produced from Oil Rocks located in the Azerbaijan sector of the Caspian Sea since today, SOCAR told APA Economics.
Despite the exploitation of the oil field for 70 years, it continues an important contribution to the oil production process in Azerbaijan.
945 thousand tons of oil and 81,2 million cubic meters gas has been produced from this oil field last year. 18,9 million tons of oil reserves exist that can be extracted from Oil Rocks.
Note that "Oil Rocks" is in the Guinness Book of Records as the first offshore oil platform in the world. Azerbaijani oil workers have obtained hydrocarbons from the bottom of the sea for industrial purposes for the first time in the world on February 25, 1994.
