India sharply increases oil import from Azerbaijan in April

During January-April of this year, India imported from Azerbaijan 5.4 mln. barrels of oil which is 20.5% less as compared with the same period of the last year, "APA-Economics" reports citing Reuters.

Despite of the decline observed within four months’ period, in April, India sharply increased import of oil from Azerbaijan. Thus, in the last month, India imported from Azerbaijan 1.98 mln. barrels of oil. This is 95.4% more as compared with the same month of 2019. While the import decreased by 25.7% in April as compare with March of this year.

Note that India is the world’s third largest oil importer, and in the reporting period, this country imported the greatest volume of oil from Iraq (130.3 mln. barrels) and Saudi Arabia (101.1 mln. barrels).
