"About 35% of Azerbaijan's GDP is formed by industry. According to this indicator, our country is one of the most industrialized countries on the European continent. The role of industrial parks and districts created in recent years in the development of industry is significant," said Chair of Parliamentary Committee on Economic Policy, Industry, and Entrepreneurship Tahir Mirkishili, APA reports.

Chair of the Parliamentary Committee said that currently there are 6 industrial parks and 5 industrial districts in Azerbaijan: "A total of 9,300 employeea work in these zones. Over the past three years, residents have paid 320 million manat salary to people working at these zones. Payments of these employees to the State Social Protection Fund exceeded 80 million manat. In the last 3 years, only 2.6 billion manat worth of products were sold in these zones. Of these, 760 million manat worth of products were exported. These figures clearly show the economic and social role of industrial units."

T. Mirkishili noted that today, another industrial park has been established by the presidential decree - the Araz Valley Economic Zone Industrial Park: "Considering the resources of the Eastern Zangazur and Karabakh economic regions, the transit potential created by the opening of the Zangazur Corridor, access to Iran and other southern markets, and finally the restoration works in the region, this industrial park has great development potential. I am confident that the Araz Valley Economic Zone Industrial Park will play a historical role in our economic development."
