Consortium: TAP pipeline to facilitate Europe’s energy transition

Trans-Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) is very essential in terms of providing a degree energy security and diversity in the wider region, APA-Economics reports citing TAP Consortium.

According to the information, the activity of the gas pipeline will bring immediate benefits to the host countries (Greece, Albania, and Italy).

"Furthermore, TAP is a key project that will facilitate Europe’s energy transition," according to the information.

Note that the TAP pipeline, which is part of the Southern Gas Corridor project, is expected to transport 10 billion cubic meters of gas annually to Europe within the Shah Deniz-2 project. This pipeline will run through Greece, Albania and the Adriatic Sea to the south of Italy.

It is expected that Azerbaijani gas will be transported to Europe in 2020.
