On June 30, 2021, the next meeting of the Tariff Council was held. An appeal of SOCAR was considered and relevant decisions were adopted at the meeting, Tariff Council told APA-Economics.

Thus, SOCAR appealed to the Tariff Council and suggested an increase in wholesale and retail prices of natural gas. The appeal says that the reason for reconsidering the natural gas tariff is an increase in expenditures as a result of increased consumption, expansion of gas supply coverage, and an increase in the number of subscribers by about 18%. In comparison to 2017, when the tariff for the population was low and the last tariff regulation came into force, increasing the volume of consumption per population subscriber from 1,3 thousand cubic meters to 1,6 thousand cubic meters, and increasing of total consumption volume from 2,7 bln cubic meters to 3,7 bln cubic meters in our country results in a further increase in losses on gas supply activities that the amount is covered from the state budget. Increasing the service level, eliminating dependence from the state budget, and ensuring investments, as well as fully covering the costs of production and supply of consumed natural gas have created a need to increase tariffs.
