SOCAR Turkey may start construction of one more petrochemical complex in Izmir next year

SOCAR Turkey may start construction of another petrochemical complex (project Mercury) in Aliaga region of Izmir, Turkey in 2020, Anar Mammadov, head of the Petkim oil complex in Aliaga, said, APA-Economics reports.

According to him, the technical documentation for the project is currently underway and if the results are positive, a final financial decision will be made and construction will start in 2020 (in the 1st quarter).

“Construction of the new facility may take up to 5 years and the complex will be put into operation in 2024-2025,” A. Mammadov said.

He also added that the project will be implemented jointly by SOCAR Turkey and BP. Petkim will be a shareholder in the new complex.
