Bulqarqaz: EU's support to project speaks for itself about how important the Southern Gas Corridor is

The Southern Gas Corridor is a project aimed at enhancing the security and diversification of natural gas supply from the Caspian Region to Europe, Botyo Velinov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bulgargaz company said at the conference "Southern Gas Corridor and Energy Security in South-East Europe" held in Baku..

‘Such an infrastructure in place will facilitate South East Europe's access to new sources of natural gas, underlining at the same time the importance of both security of gas supply and energy transportation routes. Another benefit from the Southern Gas Corridor is possible impact on reducing air pollution and carbon emissions in the region and Europe as a whole’, he said.

According to him, the EU's support to the project speaks for itself about how important the Southern Gas Corridor is for the region and Europe: ‘Further, interconnectors, planed and under construction, play a special role in gas networks connectivity in the region, hence, provide secure, competitive and affordable commodity to the countries in South East Europe. Financing the projects along the route of the gas corridor also implies that European and worldwide credit institutions have trust in projects' shareholders and their plans’.
