“The matter is about a project which is a component of the Southern Gas Corridor. This project will deliver Azerbaijani gas to European, including Italian consumers. As known, Israel, Iran, Iraq and other countries desire to deliver their gas to Europe via this project. This gives some advantages such as competitive price, stable supply, fiscal factors, new jobs to Italy. These factors will have positive impact on Italy’s economy. 20,000 people will be involved in TAP construction. A number of permanent jobs will also be launched. There are also some advantages for Italian companies. Contracts worth €6 billion have only been signed with subcontractors within TAP construction”, the vice-president said.
He added that the price of the gas is still unknown: “The price will be adjusted for market. The only thing is exact that the price will be competitive compared to the price of other gases. Increase of competitiveness affects the price”.
